I think the thing about Libertarianism that Steve misses is that Libertarianism is the starting point. It was indeed our country's original starting point. Then it becomes the reference point to judge efficiency. The fear mongering comes from looking at it as the end, not the beginning. This country desperately needs a reset. Then we can look to add back in essential services, because they do exist, but there are just far too many that are certainly not essential. Libertarianism is about being able to freely analyze all existing systems honestly on merit and then making the appropriate changes.
